The piano?
Well, as you may or may not know, way back in the day when Charlie lived on PEI, he taught me how to play the piano. Needless to say, I wasn't the best student ;) I dug my heels in when it came to practicing.(As I do with everything)
Again, needless to say, the lessons stopped as quickly as they started :D But tonight, I decided to set up the old keyboard and tickle the plastic ivories. Well, I can't say it was easy, but it wasn't as bad as I expected, and I seem to have gotten a couple songs from level 1 under my belt. (Such #1 hits such as: A Cuckoo in the Woods, Cradle Song and...well...you get the idea :D)
No real reason for posting this, just found it interesting how once I am stopped being forced to do something, I actually take an interest in it. Maybe if I take next year off of school, I'll become interested in it...I wonder what Mom would think of that one :D

Good to hear you are trying the piano again - it is a much better instrument that the trombone (but then most instruments are) ;-)
But seriously, Will, I watched you "playing" the piano in the church today, and you do have a natural touch on the keys....so hope you do keep at it.
As for taking an interest in something once people stop forcing you to do it....something about being an INTP, maybe?

When were you watching me play the piano? (unless you count me mashing in all the keys at once playing)
Is taking an interest in something once people stop forcing you to do it a common INTP trait?

I count the mashing in all the keys at once as playing ;-) You are forgetting who you are talking to.........
As for the INTP trait....I have no idea, but stubborness must fit in there somewhere or even passive resistance.

Hehe, many times it's like that Will. I've been playing the piano quite a bit too recently and it would seem like the rest from classical/more jazz has somewhat improved my finger nimbleness. Thus I'm back working on the Chopin Black Key etude. I was never very happy with my performance of it at the music festival on PEI so I plan on taking it out for a dusting and playing it better.
To say the least, it's fast and mostly black keys so it didn't sound too hot when I started it up again. It'll improve though.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying playing, because isn't that what it's all about.
What's with this AYPO blog name? Was it not ME who told you what "A mare usque ad mare" meant just last week? Can I get some credit here?!
